In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK preparing for a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters delayed my talk I doubt I can catch the plane we r enroute to the airport".

Epstein replied: "That. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing assistant".

These exchanges were released on this week together with over 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The disclosure by the Congressional committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's identity is withheld. Media outlets has been able to establish his identity by matching the timeline, occurrences, and locations mentioned.

For example, Epstein talks about arranging a plane from the UK for the redacted user in the messages, and commends their "Oxford speech". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford Union two days later.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of Trump's closest aides in the lead-up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in 2017.

He has admitted he was making a film about Epstein prior to his death and allegedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his podcast recently, he said: "We're going to release the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed documents suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile occasionally seeming to act like a personal assistant.

A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the most highly paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are pretty good assistant", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I will ensure you are well looked after."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in that year.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit issue this day with Nigel, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to Theresa May, the struggling British leader at the period, he continued: "The guys are trying to proceed. May soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think remaining as long as you can in the UK. Ideal- so others see the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Can Theresa May remain in power". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely however the people here have no balls" and noted "Johnson ; Gove; Rees Mogg; David Davis - someone has to step up".

May was eventually removed in 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in December 2018.

A representative for Reform UK told media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting occurred.

The US House of Representatives will decide next week on whether the Department of Justice should release all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.

Attention in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was reignited this week after the release of more than 20,000 documents from his archives.

Some of those referenced Trump, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. The president was a friend of Epstein's for years, but says they fell out in the 2000s, a couple of years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
