Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
