Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating violence and madness with the same glee, all while weaving gripping, socially charged stories. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by introducing a new setting and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the nature of society through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
