Based on figures released by Israel, a minimum of 98 Palestinians have died during detention beginning in October 2023. A human rights group based in Israel has stated that the actual number is probably substantially larger, as a result of hundreds of missing individuals originating in Gaza.

Civilian Deaths

Restricted Israeli data suggests that the majority of Palestinian detainees from Gaza who lost their lives in prison were non-combatants, based on a parallel examination.

By May of 2024, a defense forces registry tracking all militants in Gaza, a registry of more than 47,000 listed people, listed just 21 deaths in detention. At that time, 65 individuals from Palestine from Gaza had lost their lives in prison.

Prison Situation

High-Profile Cases
