Britain's shortest-serving prime minister, launched the inaugural episode of her online program with a pledge to unmask "malicious actors" striving to bring down Britain, the US and Europe. She explained she would lay bare how an "global web of progressives work to undermine popular rule and the public's choice."

"We're going to look at the political movement of Donald Trump and see how this can be replicated in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the key figures of the Trumpist political sphere."

Prior to the series premiere, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This marks the start of a type of revolution," said John Solomon. The right-leaning Just the News platform will publish the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Conservative Media Landscape

British fellow travellers, featuring a counselor supportive of Reform, have also helped her establish the her new show. The production is competent, if somewhat rudimentary. Truss has amassed a subscriber base of 10k in her initial seven days and her premiere garnered tens of thousands of views during that week.

It is a modest start, but in aligning with John Solomon, Truss is being thrust into a mature right-wing media network producing and amplifying Maga talking points. Key fixations involve alleged censorship by the established press and a aim to eradicate a shadowy government apparatus – which she attributes her downfall to for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"The platform is not famous beyond the Maga-verse, but it does have influence there, mostly due to its founder, who gives commentary on conservative outlets like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with the former president," commented Professor Alex Hinton, who has extensively researched the Trumpist political wave.

A Controversial Partner

The former PM's foray to bring the pro-Trump media model to Britain has drawn her nearer to contentious individuals such as the journalist.

He established Just the News after scrutiny after he was accused of promoting inaccurate reports about the President's actions in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about one-time diplomat to the region.

His claims were amplified across the conservative press, with Solomon appearing as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News show. The former president personally boosted his stories.

He wrote the Ukraine claims in a set of articles for the political newspaper The Hill, where he was moved to a columnist role following internal criticism over his articles. These reports were key in Trump's pressure for the Ukrainian government to investigate the Bidens in that year. This pressure resulted in impeachment proceedings against the president. Senators later found not guilty the then-president.

Shortly after Solomon left the Hill in late 2019, the news organization announced it was performing a review of his reporting relating to Ukrainian matters. It concluded he had relied on untrustworthy contacts and noted he "failed to identify important details about main Ukrainian informants, including the fact that they had been indicted or were being probed."

Joining the Network

The journalist's personal TV and radio guest spots are a sign of the conservative ecosystem Liz Truss is becoming part of. He talked about his backing of her new show on a show he co-hosts on Real America's Voice, a political media platform that is where you find the conservative firebrand ex-Trump strategist Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also is seen. She has already spoken with Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

Although her awkward delivery and professional woes have been mocked in Britain, certain American analysts do not dismiss her efforts to reinvent herself as a UK offshoot of the Maga media.

"One must regard folks like that with seriousness, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented Rob Flaherty, who was employed in the Obama White House.

"It was evident how in the recent campaign President Trump leveraged that alternative press to disseminate his views. Without a doubt that ecosystem transmits and affects debate abroad. It appears quite apparent to me that the circumstances in the UK are similar to what enabled this non-mainstream media network to flourish here."

Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already exerting influence in the UK.

"Online platforms knows no borders," he said. "There's a kind atmosphere within which ideas travel – sometimes taking an extreme form and occasionally in softer tones – but which is connected."

The academic said the rise of the internet-based right wing in the UK in recent times meant the "chance to have a growing impact is considerable."
