🔗 Share this article The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song This latest animated series, the most recent animated adventure by Critical Role, revealed a new introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord. All in all, the intro looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the song choice. This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence. But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year. Featuring vocals from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an episode of fantasy hijinks. The show's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched. Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as one of them. This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to get to know the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
