Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis released Thursday claimed.

According to data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the company, and increased from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that Trump had attempted to bring in over a hundred overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the introduction of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the millions of people who possess American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the business aimed to hire over 560 overseas workers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this week for remarks defending the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to occupy certain positions.

“You cannot just say a nation is entering, going to spend billions to build a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he stated to a host after it was implied that overseas employees undercut the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
